Colossians 1:9-14
Colossians is a letter written to people who need to know how to follow and embrace Jesus and all that he taught. This idea of embracing Jesus forces us to examine the call he has placed on our lives along with the acts we are engaging in which either bring us closer to fulfilling that call or push us away from it. Paul gives us several keys to embracing Jesus in this second chunk of Colossians.
I Want to Be a Rookie Veteran
Right now I am sitting inside a Starbucks working on several different projects. Starbucks has quickly become a favorite place of mine when I want to get work done. To be honest, the biggest catalyst that contributes to my productivity is the music selection. I would never play any of the songs they play… however, the music is good. I think it’s my lack of interest in the individual songs but the soothing nature of them all which is what draws me in.
Colossians 1:1-8
We had the opportunity to study Colossians 1:1-8 this past Wednesday at 242 Night. I wanted to take a moment to list some of the content that we discussed and give you the opportunity to make any additional comments to our discussion.
Colossians : An Introduction
There are a few things you must know before you start reading the book of Colossians. First, the book is written by the Aposotle Paul to the church in the city of Colossae. Paul has not had the opportunity to meet with this church face to face. His letter is in response to the report of the church given to him by the church planter, Epaphras. Epaphras heard the good news of the Gospel while Paul was teaching in Ephesus and he returned to his home town to share what he had heard and come to believe.
Philippians 1:3-11
As I started reading this portion of God’s Word I started thinking about the implications it has on my life. Through his many moments of loneliness and struggling to find his identity, Paul’s words can be and are a huge comfort to us.
